Fox Sensei : The fox has been coming up in deep conversation for me this week. Magnolias are a flower I love during Spring. There is a tree with downed branches I visited last week. One can cut branches and put them in water and they bloom again and again : I dance in metaphor. MONDAY MUSINGS ⁣ ::⁣ This week I am diving into a two week long artist residency. I am beyond excited and exhausted. I have never done a visual arts residency before, and they vary greatly from my somatic movement background in letting kiddos express themselves by just moving their bodies. All bodies. No shame⁣ ::⁣ Omamori is a Japanese Talisman part of Shinto culture and is now notably in most shrines and temples across Japan. It brings good luck, fortune, and magic to those who hold it. So yes, basically I am getting kids to believe again and again that magic is real. That believing in themselves is real. That what brings them joy doesn't have to be outside of themselves, it lives within them. My ancestors are laughing, smiling and crying. KIKI I DO LOVE YOU⁣ 🔸⁣ Kiki is one of my favorite character archetypes in both her ways of showing up, and also her ways of shadowing. She represents the transition from being a kiddo to being an adult⁣ 🔸⁣ Adulting, or whatever the fuck that means has changed so much. In a way the traditional and contemporary context has changed. Married? Nope. Kids? Nope? 30 year career. HELL NO. Sass insert here: Social media had made it so that if your not You Tube famous by 24..your fucking up⁣ 🔸⁣ For me, this idea of cultivating homeownership and understanding what it means to be privileged enough to be a homeowner..THIS WAS ADULTING. Haha! Jokes on me, and the deep grace it takes for me to really own my decision to lock in a falsified sense of security⁣ 🔸⁣ Kiki struggles between both worlds-the liminal with the physical.
